Alchemical Laboratory II: Making Alchemical Medicines

Rudolf Steiner College, 9200 Fair Oaks Blvd, Fair Oaks, CA 95628 (Map)

The making of alchemical remedies involves levels of laboratory practices beyond teas and extracts. The spagyric approach uses simple processes as rational steps in a holistic protocol.

An overview of the methods and equipment used in spagyrics will serve as an introduction to the higher arcana of mineral/plant compounding. Recent research into creating salt signatures as diagnostic tools will be integrated into presentations on the production of gem colloids, and pH stable essences from plant salts and powdered gems.

Focus will then shift to planetary influences and timing of procedures with descriptions of lunar and solar interactions observable in monthly and seasonal cycles.

We will then explore prayer and meditation using forms in nature as aids to dialogue with elemental worlds that stand behind the transformation of substances for the purpose of healing.

Afternoon sessions led by Matias Baker will focus on the phenomenology of plants and the idea that plants are the senses for the earth and the spiritual world. Practical exercises will explore form principles of plants and their dynamic relationships to minerals and animals that aim to strengthen our relationship to the wonder of Nature.
