The Alchemical Library
Rudolf Steiner College, 9200 Fair Oaks Blvd, Fair Oaks, CA 95628 (Map)
JUNE 13-17, 2014
A basic premise for alchemical work is that the physical world and its processes are images of the processes at work in soul transformation. For example, a retort is either a quick returned response in an argument or a laboratory device for returning vapors from burning substances back into precipitates. The laboratory work in alchemy employs many such devices and processes that can be used for soul contemplation.
There will be a focus on hands-on work with laboratory equipment used in distillation, calcination, circulation, digestion, sublimation, salt and essential oil production, all processes concerned with the formation of a spagyric medicament or quintessence. The various alchemical fires and the heat sources used to create them will be a key theme as well as the use of cosmic rhythms as a guide for the practical work. Morning presentations led by Dennis Klocek will focus on the lab apparatus work and afternoon sessions led by Matias Baker will focus on the alchemical aspects of the biodynamic preparations.
